I totaled a rental car in Texas. HELP!?

Hi. My car is in the shop being repaired by my insurance company after being flooded in a storm (my understanding is that this doesn’t count against me since i had no control over it). I’ve never been in a wreck before but I hit someone from behind in my rental car (Enterprise) and totaled it. I didn’t purchase their insurance but used mine instead (Farmers) because I’m stupid. What are the likely consequences. I have no money, no house, and lots of student loan debt. What can happen to me? Can they sue me? If they do and I don’t have money what happens to me?
Yeah, I have full cover insurance because my car in the shop isn’t bad off yet. So I’ll have to deal with the deductible and raised rates? That wouldn’t be so bad considering. Will defensive driving help? I got a ticket as well.

~~You will need to check with your agent to see what your policy covers on rentals. Also, check with your credit card company you paid with, they sometimes offer coverage also.

One thing no insurance covers, except the rental company, is the cost you will be charged of their loss of rental fee while the car is being repaired. You definitely have to cover that.

They can take you to court for any amounts you do owe. If they win and receive a judgment, they can attach your wages, get your money in the bank account, or whatever options allowed. Sorry it isn’t better news. At least see what your other two options will cover.~~
